Nitrofurantoin v léčbě a profylaxi infekcí dolních cest močových – aktuální doporučení

Infekce močových cest představují jedno z nejčastějších bakteriálních onemocnění, s převahou výskytu u žen. V posledních letech je patrný vzestup antibiotické rezistence, což výrazně ovlivňuje léčbu nejen infekcí urogenitální traktu. Tato skutečnost podtrhuje nezbytnost racionální antibiotické preskripce, včetně využívání úzkospektrých látek s příznivým profilem rezistence. Nitrofurantoin, díky své vysoké koncentraci v moči, nízkému výskytu rezistentních kmenů a minimálnímu vlivu na střevní mikroflóru, zůstává jedním z klíčových antibiotik pro léčbu akutních infekcí dolních cest močových a jejich profylaxi. Tento text podává přehled základních charakteristik tohoto léčivého přípravku a jeho významu v současné klinické praxi.

Nitrofurantoin in the treatment and prophylaxis of lower urinary tract infections – current recommendations
Urinary tract infections represent one of the most common bacterial diseases, predominantly affecting women. In recent years, the growing trend of antibiotic resistance has significantly influenced the management of infections, including those of the urogenital tract. This highlights the critical need for rational antibiotic prescribing, with an emphasis on the use of narrow-spectrum agents that maintain a favorable resistance profile. Due to its ability to achieve high urinary concentrations, low prevalence of resistant strains, and minimal impact on intestinal microflora, nitrofurantoin remains a cornerstone in the treatment and prophylaxis of acute lower urinary tract infections. This article provides an overview of the pharmacological properties of nitrofurantoin and its clinical relevance in modern therapeutic practice.
