Biologická liečba u starších pacientov

Starnutím populácie výrazne vzrastá počet starších pacientov so zhubnými nádorovými ochoreniami. Liečba starších ľudí je náročná. V sú- časnosti sme v ére personalizovanej biologickej protinádorovej terapie, ale údaje podporujúce použitie cielenej terapie u starších pacientov s nádorovým ochorením nie sú dostačujúce. Menšie zastúpenie starších pacientov v registračných štúdiách je veľkým problémom. Starší pacienti zahrnutí do veľkých klinických štúdií často nie sú „pravými“ reprezentantmi staršej onkologickej populácie, preto údaje týkajúce sa efektivity a bezpečnosti v týchto štúdiách nemôžu byť generalizované na celú staršiu onkologickú populáciu. Väčšina cielených terapií sa odporúča na použitie u starších pacientov, ale je vhodné týchto pacientov dôkladne monitorovať pre potenciálnu toxicitu.

Biologic therapy in older patients

With the aging of the population increase the number of older patients with cancer . Treatment of older people is difficult. We are now in the era of personalized biological antitumor treatment, but the data supporting targeted therapy in elderly patients with cancer are not satisfactory. Inadequate representation of elderly patients in registration trials is a major problem. Often older patients enrolled to large clinical trials are not „true“ representative of elderly oncology population, therefore the efficacy and safety data from these trials can not be generalized to whole older oncology population. Majority of targeted therapies are recommended for use in older patients; however, close monitoring for potential toxicity is recommended.
