Systemic anticancer therapy-induced peripheral neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is one of the most common and, at the same time, most underestimated complications of. Despite its high prevalence and significant impact on patients’ functional status and quality of life, we still do not give it adequate attention in clinical practice. Along with myelotoxicity, gastrointestinal and mucosal toxicity, and cancer-related fatigue, it is one of the most common adverse effects of systemic anticancer therapy. Severe clinical manifestations can limit the intensity of the administered treatment and thereby indirectly affect its efficacy. Chronic, persistent symptoms subsequently negatively impact the patient’s functional status, ability to work, and overall quality of life.
