Cardiopulmonary resuscitation ERC guidelines 2025 – key messages

scientific evidence and clinical recommendations in the field of resuscitation in Europe. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains one of the leading causes of mortality in Europe. The European Resuscitation Council (ERC) 2025 recommendations place increased emphasis on the prevention of SCA as an integral part of the chain of survival. In a large proportion of cases, cardiac arrest is predictable and potentially avoidable if warning signs are recognized early and adequate intervention is taken. The article is divided into two parts. The first deals with the prevention of SCA outside the hospital, identifying warning signs of impending cardiac arrest (“red flags”). The second part provides practical knowledge on basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults. The article includes schemes for basic and advanced adult CPR.
