The reaction to hymenoptera venom and its practical management
The reaction to an insect sting is mostly a nuisance rather than a threat to health and life. In case of allergy, however, it can result in anaphylaxis, sometimes with a severe course. Therefore, it is important to be able to assess when it is a serious situation that requires urgent action. Despite the fact that the key drug in anaphylaxis is adrenaline, its administration is often unnecessarily delayed. The only causal treatment for insect venom allergy is allergen immunotherapy (VIT, venom immunotherapy). In recent years, several contraindications to its administration have been revised and the possibilities of its administration have been expanded.
