Infected posttraumatic false aneurysm and gangrene of the shin

Posttraumatic false aneurysm is rare cause of lower etremity soft tissue ischaemia and consequently gangrene. Posttraumatic false aneurysm with surrounding soft tissue compression is not the common cause of lower extremities gangrene development. It almost always leads to poorly managed bleeding from the injured artery while gangrene curing. Ischaemia of surrouding soft tissue almost always lead to the development of the treatment resistant infection, which in some cases should be solved by amputation of the affected limb. In order to manage those stares it is needed to use all the available treatment methods to be able to decrease consecutive worsening of function of the affected limb. In our case after the infection resolved VAC system was apply on the tissue defect in order to support tissue granulation. When the defect was filled by granulation tissue dermoepidermal graft was used. The case report indicate that at present time practicing physician can experience complication infrequent in the past.
