Tadalafil – nový blokátor PDE-5 pro léčbu erektilní dysfunkce z hlediska praktického urologa

Tadalafil – a new PDE-5 inhibitor in the treatment of erectile dysfunction from practical urologist‘s point of view Another drug is now available in the pharmacies within Czech Republic. It is new inhibitor of the 5th isoenzyme of phosphodiesterase named tadalafil (CialisTM). It is peripheral conditioner of penile cavernous muscles (similarly to sildenafil – ViagraTM). In comparison to other PDE-5 inhibitors unusual pharmacokinetic data are reported. Drug is rapidly absorbed and in most men is effect onset within 30 minutes. Efficacy duration is 24 to 36 hour owing to long biological half-life. According to surveys reports’ is the drug well tolerated and 1,7 % of patients (placebo 1,1 %)discontinued the treatment due to adverse events. Erection was improved in 81 % suffering from erectile dysfunction. Contraindications are the same as in sildenafil – combination with nitrates and NO donors and severe, instable cardiovascular disease, which itself is a risk during sexual activity. When compared to the past, this drug is a new treatment possibility, which is interesting for doctors of many specialities. Sexual dysfunction is a part symptom complex of many diseases and disorders within urology, connected mostly with diseases of prostate.
