Infekce močových cest u dětí

URINARY TRACT INFECTION IN CHILDREN Urinary tract infections (UTI) are disease, which require full attention of a physician. Their clinical signs markedly depend on child’s age. Already after the first attack of UTI in boys and after the second one in girls specialist’s examination is needed, preferably by a paediatric urologist or a nephrologist. The examination is focus on a proof or an exclusion of anatomical abnormalities of greater or lesser importance, which tend to UTI. In addition to focused clinical examination, it is necessary to perform an ultrasound of kidneys, univasive urodynamic evaluation (UFM) and a voiding cystourethrography, which can be modified as a radionuclide examination. If there is a suspicion to parenchymal scarring changes static renal scintigraphy is indicated. Principles of the treatment of UTI in children are different from those in adults. Short course therapy is not generally approved, the treatment should last 7-10 days in minimum. I case of serious course of illness in a child, associated with emesis and dehydration, admission to the hospital is necessary. Antibiotics should be administered parenterally for the first two days. Tetracyclines and fluorquinolones are contraindicated due to their effects on tissues of teeth and joint cartilages. Key words: UTI, children.
