HPV virus − its history, pathology and vaccination against HPV

Human papillomavirus (HPV) dates from 4500 BC and since 1970s was its role in carcinogenesis unknown. Only advances in DNA technology have enabled its reproduction and research. HPV is responsible not only for the discovery of warts but also for some oncological diseases, especially cervical cancer. Awareness of HPV, possibilities of transmission, spread and possibilities of vaccination will contribute to the general view of the pharmacist in practice.
