Postavení kortikosteroidů v komplexní terapii alergické rýmy
The role of corticosteroids in complex therapy of allergic rhinitis Allergic rhinitis (AR) belongs among the most frequent diseases of the upper respiratory tract. It is allergic inflammation of a nose lining, which clinical signs encompass usually rhinorrhoea, sneezing, itching or an obstruction. The treatment of AR is based on an International Consensus of treatment of allergic rhinitis. Regarding their strong anti-inflammatory action, local corticosteroids are recommended in cases of moderate and severe disease or in case of long-lasting complaints in adult patients. Conversely, systemic corticosteroids are an ultimate choice in, so far ineffective, proper treatment. Key words: allergic rhinitis, local corticosteroids, systemic corticosteroids.
