The most common endocrinopathies in the pediatric endocrinologist‘s office
Suspected thyroid dysfunction is one of the most common reasons for patient referral to a pediatric endocrinologist. Growth disorders represent a frequent differential diagnostic challenge in pediatric practice. Furthermore, unrecognized disorders of pubertal onset may be a manifestation of serious somatic disease with subsequent lifelong consequences for the child. The aim of this article is to summarize the symptoms that should lead pediatricians to suspect an endocrinopathy, as well as symptoms that are unrelated to endocrine system disorders.
