Hygiena horních cest dýchacích – součást léčebné rehabilitace

Hygiene of upper respiratory tract – a component of therapeutic rehabilitation Recurrent sinusitis and upper respiratory tract infections represent one of the most frequent reasons why parents are afraid of their child catching a cold, why they excessively protect a child from extensive physical activity and why they isolate their child from other kids, for example schoolmates. During regular check-ups at pediatrician´s office they are then surprised by his opinion that their child breathes poorly. Furthermore, a pediatrician recommends an evaluation in the Department of Rehabilitation in order to teach a child how to clean his nose and cough properly. Parents get to know how to learn proper breathing, how to get rid of bad habits and home exercise is introduced to them. Regular follow-ups continue in this department until proper breathing habits are achieved. Following recommendations are based upon practical experience how to prevent mucostasis by proper exercise practicing, and consequences of chronic impairment of respiratory tract under conditions, very close, safe and familiar to children – at home. Key words: hygiene of upper respiratory tract, inhalation, bronchial secretion, respiratory physiotherapy, breathing gymnastics, rehabilitation at home.
