PHIMOSIS – TREATMENT IN CHILD´S AGE Phimosis is constriction of the preputial orifice so that the prepuce cannot be retracted back over the glans penis. Conservative or surgical therapy of uncomplicated phimosis is recommended after two, better three years of age. Earlier indications to treatment are due to frequent balanitis, difficult miction, recurrent urinary infections after exclusion of other organic or functional causes. In case of unscarred phimosis, conservatice therapy is feasible by application of a nonsteroidal or steroidal ointment. If conservative therapy fails or in case of scarred phimosis the balanoplasty or radical circumcision are performed. The circumcision is not recommended in a higher degree of hypospadia or immersed penis. Key words: children, phimosis, conservative therapy, circumcision.
