Child as a patient in communication with pediatricien. The negativistic behaviour of a child in a doctor‘s office is most frequently produced by feelings of uncertainty and fear. The first condition for the success of all kinds of assement and treatment is to prepare the child adequately. What is the rolee of the parents and medical personnel in this preparation. The psychological aspects of the waiting-room situation. How to establish contact with the child and what are the principles of psychohygiene during outpatient treatment. How to overcome the child´s anxious emotional response and how to make educational use of the child´s encounter with medical personnel.
