Anémie chronických nemocí v dětském věku
Anaemia of cHronic disease in childhood Anaemia of chronic disease (ACD) is the most common type of anaemias in hospitalized patients and, after iron deficiency anaemia, the second most common type of anaemia. It occurs in systemic diseases of inflammatory, metabolic or neoplastic origin, it is an interdisciplinary problem. It can occur as an initial sign of severe systemic disease and its occurence is often a cause of search for a severe primary illness. It is very important to establish a correct diagnosis, because ACD is often misdiagnosed and impropriately treated. Well-managed diagnostic approach and appropriate treatment requires a close cooperation of paediatrician, paediatric haematologist and specialist in various fields of paediatrics.
