The options for modifying the prophylaxis of hypersensitive reactions to paclitaxel

The administration of paclitaxel is associated with the risk of hypersensitive reactions. Traditional preventative strategies include premedication with corticosteroids, antihistamines, and longer infusion times. Recent studies suggest the possibility of reducing doses or completely omitting certain premedications, as well as adjusting the administration of paclitaxel without increasing the risk of infusion reactions. These modifications may improve treatment effectiveness, reduce the occurrence of adverse events, and enhance the quality of patient care. The question of the possibilities of modifying premedication in clinical practice is gaining importance with the use of new therapeutic regimens, especially in combination with immunotherapy.
