Use of dual IL-17A and IL-17F inhibition in the treatment of psoriasis in a biologic-naive patient
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory, immune-related disease that has a significant impact on quality of life. Given the prevalence of psoriasis, which is around 2-3%, this condition has been at the center of dermatological research for over three decades. Biological treatment currently represents a targeted therapy that helps patients achieve rapid complete remission of skin symptoms, significantly improving their quality of life while also potentially affecting related comorbidities. The key immunological pathway TNFα/IL23/IL17 is responsible for the development and persistence of psoriasis. An inhibitor that simultaneously blocks interleukin 17A and interleukin 17F represents a therapeutic option that allows for better control over the disease itself.
