Current treatment options of rozacea

Rosacea is defined as a chronic inflammatory disease of the facial skin with a significant psychosocial impact on the quality of patient’s life, which is among the most common facial dermatoses. The stage of the disease determines the optimal stratification of the patient into the treatment regimen. Clinically, rosacea is most often divided into four subtypes, erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, papulopustular rosacea, phymatous rosacea and ocular rosacea. In the treatment of papulopustular rosacea, the drug of first choice is ivermectin in the form of a cream with the best results. Ivermectin in the form of a cream is recommended to be applied to patients for a long time and to keep them on maintenance treatment. An important addition to the overall therapy is the selection of appropriate dermatocosmetics, which are intended for sensitive skin, or for patients directly prone to rosacea, which soothe, restore the protective skin barrier with the content of active substances that reduce inflammation. The most appropriate preventive measure is to avoid UVA radiation with the consistent use of preparations with an SPF factor all year round.
