Hand eczema
Hand eczema represents a heterogeneous group of dermatological conditions with varying etiologies, clinical courses, and therapeutic approaches, all of which share the common feature of skin manifestations localized on the hands. Skin lesions in this area are often accompanied by subjective symptoms such as pain, itching, or burning, and significantly impact patients’ quality of life, while also limiting their ability to perform routine daily and work activities. Despite the high prevalence and significant impact of the condition on patients’ lives, this issue has not received sufficient attention in the professional literature. A review of both international and domestic scientific sources, focusing on individual types of hand eczema and their prevalence, highlights the fragmented nature of available knowledge and the lack of systematic research on this topic. The results of the literature review, together with clinical experience, confirm that hand eczema is among the most common dermatological diagnoses with a significant negative impact on patients’ quality of life. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that a proper understanding of the disease’s pathogenesis, early diagnosis, appropriately tailored treatment, and systematic patient education are key factors leading to better disease control, a reduction in the need for pharmacological treatment, and a subsequent improvement in the quality of life of patients with hand eczema.
