Investigation methods for kidney and urinary tract diseases

The article is intended especially for general practitioners who often come into contact with patients who have urological diseases. There was summarized an overview of the urological history, the physical examination of the urogenital system as well as the most frequent laboratory tests. More brief is reported about the diagnostic value of modern imaging, endoscopic and urodynamic examinations used in urology. There is submitted an overview of the signs and symptoms of the most common urogenital system tumors. New imaging and instrumentation technology has facilitated the diagnosis (and treatment) of many diseases. Despite all advances, the basic approach to the patient with urological difficulties is still a history, physical examination and urine examination. The status and role of general practitioners are irreplaceable in this respect.
