Integrated assessment reform in practice

The article analyses the key legislative and procedural changes in the assessment of dependency and the provision of social services in the Slovak Republic, entering into force on 1 September 2025 under Act No. 376/2024 Coll. on Integrated Assessment Activities and Implementing Decree No. 51/2025 Coll. The reform introduces a unification of previously fragmented assessment processes and establishes a standardized integrated assessment report with binding legal effects across the entire system of social support. Particular attention is devoted to the shift from percentage-based evaluation of functional impairment towards the assessment of functional consequences of disability, as well as to the reinforcement of client participation through a mandatory self-assessment questionnaire. The article provides a systematic professional overview of the most relevant changes and their implications for the clinical practice of general practitioners and medical specialists.
