Náhla srdcová smrť u mladých ľudí a športovcov
Sudden cardiac death in young age and in athletes Risk of sudden cardiac death in athletes is higher than in common population. Structural or functional cardiovascular abnormalities together with high level of physical exercise co-participate on sudden death. Most frequent causes of sudden death in young athletes are hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. Mechanism is most commonly ventricular tachycardia. In the absence of structural cardiovascular disease ion chanelopathies should be suspected as a cause of unexplained death. Pre-participation screening, regular controls and exclusion of risk person from athletic activities are most important measures in prevention of sudden death in sport.
