Seizures in prehospital emergency care

Seizures are a clinical manifestation of a heterogeneous group of diseases and are defined as uncoordinated involuntary muscle contractions. The accumulation of convulsive activity should be considered a life-threatening condition with the primary therapeutic goal of rapid termination of seizures. The text presents the two most common diseases that lead to the development of seizures with impaired consciousness, namely epilepsy, or convulsive status epilepticus, and febrile seizures.
