Faecal microbiota transplant in management of recurrent Clostridium difficile infection

Clostridium difficile infection is an important cause of hospital-acquired diarrhoea and the most common nosocomial infection at all. Over the past two decades, there has been a dramatic worldwide increase in both the incidence and severity of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). The most important risk factor CDI is decrease of diversity of intestinal microbiota caused by wide-spectrum antimicrobial therapy. Despite of adequate therapy there are lot of recurrence of CDI. Faecal microbial therapy has showed as effective therapeutic method. The high effectiveness of FMT consists of restoring the intestinal ecosystem by transferring faecal transplant from healthy donor to the intestine of patient with CDI.
