Eozinofilná ezofagitída

Eosinophilic esophagitis Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is one of the most prevalent esophageal diseases and the leading cause of dysphagia and food impaction in children and young adults. This underlines the importance of optimizing diagnosis and treatment of the condition, especially after the increasing amount of knowledge on EoE. The main novelty since the latest 2011 guidelines is the retraction of the term proton pump inhibitor-responsive oesophageal eosinophilia (PPI-REE) and the recognition of PPI as EoE therapy. Topical steroids and elimination diets are also available in the treatment of EoE. The choice of treatment should also be personalized based on patient preferences and may be changed over time. The disadvantage of elimination diets despite their high efficiency of remission is the need for repeated endoscopies for histological evaluation and adherence to the long-term diet. Endoscopic dilation of the esophageal narrowing and strictures improves dysphagia and is safe.
