Differential diagnosis of hypoglycemia in a non-diabetic patient – case report
Hypoglycemia in non-diabetic patients is rare but can be life-threatening. In outpatient practice, the general practitioner plays a key role in the initial detection and differential diagnosis. We present a case report of a 41-year-old female patient with recurrent hypoglycemia, in whom the combination of hyponatremia and hyperkalemia led to the diagnosis of Addison’s disease. This case highlights the importance of hypoglycemia as a diagnostic marker in general practice.
