Secondary lymphedema after oncogynecological disease and the significance of the right compression therapy
Oncological diseases are always one of the most causes of morbidity of the population. Their successful treatment can lead to possible complications. Lower limb lymphedema is one of the most frequent complications after oncology treatment for gynecologic cancer in women that significantly impairs their quality of life. Lypmhedema is a non-curable disease with a tendency to progress. Complex decongestive therapy that includes compressive bandages, physiotherapy, manual lymphatic drenaige and intermittent compression by multiseptate sacs may improve and stabilize secondary lymphedema. Author in his lecture mentions a compressive therapy that is an essential method to successful treatment of lymphedema. In the end he presents his own experiences with compressive therapy with the patient with secondary lymphedema of lower leg after gynenologic cancer treatment.
