Endoleak – „Achillova päta“ endovaskulárnej liečby aneuryzmy abdominálnej aorty

Endoleak - „Achilles heel“ of endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm

Endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm has been well established over the past two decades. It provides early and great benefits when compare with surgical treatment, but has higher risk of reinterventions. Endoleaks are the most common complications following EVAR and correct identification of the endoleak type is crucial for succesful treatment. Type II endoleak is the most frequent with controversy in treatment. Continued sac growth related to endoleak II can be approached by transarterial or translumbal embolisation of nidus, inflow and outflow vessels contributing to backfilling of the aneurysm sac. Recurrences od endoleak II need to repeate endovascular treatment, laparoscopic surgery or open surgery.
