Claudicatio intermittens ako dôležitý príznak ischémie končatín
Claudicatio intermittens as an important symptom of limb ischaemia
Intermittent claudication, as a typical symptom of limb ischaemia, is characterised by exertional pain occurring in working muscles which forces the patient to slow down, limp and stop. The pain spontaneously disappears within a few minutes, on average 1-4 minutes after stopping, depending upon the level of severity of the stenotic process and the patient is able to carry on walking. Diagnostics of ischaemia in the extremities is based on a positive medical history, on physical examination of the limbs and ankle brachial pressure index measurement. Physical therapy (regular daily walking) together with conservative treatment (risk factors modification, pharmacotherapy) can improve the pain free interval in patients with intermittent claudication.
