Intra-abdominal infection after injury of abdomen

Intra-abdominal infection or abscess after abdominal injuries and surgical procedures are relatively often. Fever, tachykardia, and hypotension with catabolic response is universal. In prior years this usually required an open operation. Recently, computed tomgraphic ( CT ) scans have provided precise localisation of abscess, permitting to by drained percutaneously under radiographic or ultrasound guidance sometimes.
