Liver transplantation in children
Pediatric liver transplantation is a complex therapeutic method, which requires cooperation of a multidisciplinary team. It is based on surgical intervention in which diseased liver is removed from the body of the recipient and in its place is transplanted whole liver or a part of the liver from the dead, respectively living donor. Only few other therapeutic interventions are associated with such a significant improvement as liver transplantation in prognosis of patients with lethal liver disease.
