Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for pancreatic body carcinoma

Despite the significant progress in laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy remains relatively rare procedure. Nevertheless, in case that rules of oncological radicality are respected and the ERAS protocol implemented, it may provide substantial benefits for the patient. Although, the first successful laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy for borderline tumor was performed at 1st Department of Surgery in Košice as early as in 2010, it is only now, after gaining sufficient skills and experience, that the further progress was made towards laparoscopic resection for the pancreatic cancer. Following article presents our first experience with the above mentioned procedure.
