Iatrogenic bile duct injuries – overview, management and therapy
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is among the most commonly used abdominal surgeries in the world. Based on its frequent use, occasional complications can occur, including the bile duct injuries. Such injuries can have negative impact on the health of the patient. Multidisciplinary approach is warranted and therefore only highly specialized facilities with surgeons focusing on such issues should perform it. This article briefly summarizes the pathogenesis of injuries, classifications and management.
