Hemobilia as a rare cause of biliary obstruction
Hemobilia is rare and can sometimes be a very serious cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The exact occurrence is not known, since small degrees of haemobilia are likely to go unrecognized or unannounced. Life-threatening hemobilia are rare, but are characterized by high mortality, so in certain symptoms the doctor and especially the surgeon should think about this eventuality. Diagnosis is difficult and quite often only per exclusionem. Interventional radiology is the method of choice in both diagnosis and subsequent treatment. In addition to selective hepatic, a clear celiacography is needed to detect vascular anomalies that are very common in this area. One cause of haemobilia may be pseudo-aneurysm a. hepatica. In this case report we present a case of hemobilia in PSA of the right hepatic artery in a young patient.
