Subjective functioning and satisfaction with the life in patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders

Patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders often have problems in day-to-day functioning. Functional impairment is typical for almost all patients. The aim of the study is to analyze the mutual relationships between life satisfaction and subjective psychosocial functioning in patients with schizophrenia. The secondary aim is to analyze how the subjective functioning and satisfaction with the life of patients is related to the current severity of the symptoms. The sample consisted of 52 patients with schizophrenic spectrum disorders and 35 healthy controls. In patients, we found significantly lower subjectively perceived functioning and lower life satisfaction. We found the strongest relationships to the severity of the positive and depressive symptoms. In the discussion, we focus on the possible implications of data.
