Předsudky, diskriminace a stigmatizace jako závažné etické problémy spojené s léčbou psychicky nemocných

Prejudices, discrimination and stigmatization as serious ethical problems associated with the treatment of the mentally ill The paper deals with three negative phenomena accompanying the treatment of a mentally ill patient. These are prejudices, discrimination and stigmatization. The paper concerns the origin of these phenomena and their mutual connections. It generally describes possible solutions and ways out of the problems related to these three negative phenomena affecting both patients and their closest. It also presents an exemplary problem of (de)stigmatization of people with schizophrenia. It reflects the ethical implications resulting from the manifestations of prejudice, discrimination and stigmatization as well as their social anchorage. It highlights the need to address these issues in a social context, and relieve those who are mentally ill from their bad deal – a serious mental disorder.
