Early detection of neuroblastoma for long-term quality of life

Neuroblastoma is an embryonal tumour formed by immature cells of the sympathetic nervous system. It is the most common extracranial solid childhood tumour which represents about 7 – 10 % of childhood malignancies. It is a tumour of young children – about 90 % of cases are diagnosed in children younger than 5 years. An extremely heterogenous biology, various clinical manifestations, and prognosis are typical for neuroblastomas. Authors present case reports of two patients with neuroblastoma manifested as a spinal cord compression. A spinal cord compression syndrome is an oncological urgency, early detection and urgent treatment is crucial for survival and long-term quality of life.
