The compensation for child´s congenital conductive bilateral hearing loss using BAHA®
The case report discusses the compensation for 2,5 week old girl´s conductive hearing loss by the bone anchored hearing device BAHA® softband. Child was borned with the bilateral congenital external auditory canal atresia and the bilateral grade III microtia in May 2017. The parents came to the Pediatric ENT Department of Medical Faculty and National Institute of Children’s Diseases in Bratislava because of the phoniatric examination. They were detailly informed about the conservative and surgical (for future) options of their child´s congenital conductive hearing loss. BAHA® 4 softband was lent to the child at the age 4,5 month, BAHA® 5 was provided after two months. The very good effect of compensation is controlled by VRA (visual reinforcement audiometry), child has a hearing terapist.
