Pregnancy and delivery in adolescents

Teenage pregnancy is very much subject to debate by general public as well as by experts in gynaecology, psychology, social workers, as well as teachers. The WHO considers births before the 19th year as timely. In Slovakia, teenage pregnancies are usually encountered in ethnic minorities with a lower socio-economic standard. Pregnancies of adolescents carry a higher risk of complications and are thus associated with a higher neonatal and maternal mortality and morbidity.
