Standard procedure for the prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections in hospitalized children
Prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) represents one of the fundamental pillars of safe inpatient care in pediatric patients. Although international guidelines are largely concordant in their key principles, their implementation in everyday clinical practice remains variable. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of current, internationally accepted recommendations for the prevention of CAUTI in children and to translate them into a practical, clinically applicable standard procedure. The article also includes a practical checklist designed for direct use in clinical practice.
