Nové odporúčania pre diagnostiku hypertenzie u detí

New recommendations for diagnosis of hypertension in children In September 2017, the American Academy of Pediatricians issued new guidelines for the screening and management of high blood pressure in children and adolescents. The effort of the authors was to simplify the assessment of blood pressure in childhood and improve the diagnostic process of hypertension. A simplified screening table is available for outpatient care to identify children at risk of hypertension. The new normal values of blood pressure are lower, as they are obtained from children with normal weight. For children over 13 years of age, it is recommended to use uniform blood pressure limit values as for the adult population. The recommendation aligns with the forthcoming adult BP guidelines, where prehypertension is referred as „elevated blood pressure“. Each patient with hypertension during 3 different occasions should undergo 24-hour blood pressure monitoring.
