Deformity prednej hrudnej steny u detí

Anterior chest deformities in children Anterior chest deformities represent a group of diseases, which can cause much more often psychological difficulties than real health restrictions for patients. The complex diagnostics requires employment of wide range of professionals – paediatric surgeon, clinical anthropologist, cardiologist, specialist in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, sometimes even orthopaedist. Pectus excavatum and carinatum therapeutic approach has changed in last two decades substantially. The authors aim to provide a comprehensive view of the current diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm using the recent knowledge available. They emphasize the need for a wider use of non-invasive diagnostic modalities, as well as the accurate age-related timing of surgical or conservative treatment. They introduce a novel modality in pectus carinatum treatment, available in Slovakia since 2017.
