Rare malignant tumors involving prostate
The review article deals with the problem of rare carcinomas of the prostate, which represents a relatively heterogeneous group of malignancies in terms of diagnosis, clinical course and therapy. The article is written in accordance with the WHO classification of prostate cancers published in 2016, according to which the article is divided into two parts- the first part is focused on variants of acinar adenocarcinoma, the second part is devoted to non-acinar carcinomas. Due to the low patient populations, it is impossible to make recommendations for clinical practice based on prospective clinical trials. The choice of therapy is mainly determined by the clinical stage. The basis for treatment of localized disease is radical surgery or radiotherapy. In the setting of metastatic disease, hormone therapy and/or chemotherapy are mainly used.
