Rare location of neuroendocrine tumours

Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are a heterogenous group of tumours and they arise from neuroendocrine cells. NETs are considered to be „rare“ diseases. NETs originating from unusual locations are so rare, that we have just some clinical reports worldwide. Modlin et al. have defined NETs as rare if they constitute less than 1% of all neuroendocrine tumours. As rare locations of NETs we assign hepatobiliary tract, Meckel´s diverticulum, paranasal sinuses, larynx, breast, female genital tract (ovaries, endometrium, uterine cervix, vulva), testicles, kidneys etc.
