Role of hormonal treatment in non-metastatic prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is common disease with high prevalence in older men. Therefore most doctors come across this diagnosis during their career. This review article describes basic principles of non-metastatic cancer treatment with focus on hormonal treatment. It provides evidence based data leading to guideline constitution. It also describes different modalities in hormonal treatment and their adverse effects. These are often of chronic nature and they are not as noticeable as those of chemotherapy.
