Radiotherapy of uterine carcinoma – recommendations for treatment indication
Uterine carcinomas are the most common gynecological malignancy. Surgery is the mainstay of therapy in these patients. The role of radiotherapy is mainly in the adjuvant treatment. The indication of radiotherapy depends on clinical stage of the disease, the extent of performed surgery and presence or absence of certain risk factors which enable us to classify individual cases into specified risk groups. Appropriate indication of radiotherapy decreases the rate of local recurrences and improves the overall survival of patients.
