Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis
Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a very rare benign inflammatory breast disease with a propensity for chronic course and recurrences. IGM is a challenging disorder as it can mimic breast carcinoma and other types of mastitis both clinically and radiologically. An accurate diagnosis is based on histology. There is no consensus regarding treatment regimens. Management options include observation, treatment with steroids and immunosuppressive agents, as well as more invasive approaches such as wide surgical excision.
