Severe herpetic infection and atopic dermatitis with increased IgE

Patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) suffer more frequent from bacterial and viral infections. The autor in the case of a serious herpes infection in a 17 year-oldpatient in the field of atopic dermatitis with extremely high values of the total IgE. In the clinical picture he was dominated by the attachment of the head, face and neck which than spread over to entire body, complicated was a disorder of consciousness. Serological tests and test of liquor have confirmed HSV1 viral infection. In the treatment of the vital indication, intravenous immunoglobulins, virostatic and antibiotic therapy have been used. In conclusion, autor points to a differentialdiagnosis of hyper IgE diseases and emphasize further management of treatment in collaboration with immunoallergologist
