Sledovania účinnosti a znášanlivosti ALLERGIKA®- krému na očné viečka

Efficacy and tolerability of topical emollient ALLERGIKA(R)- eyelid cream in periorbital region Periorbital dermatitis is a frequent problem in dermatological practice. Patients with this diagnosis suffer, as the disease is in a visible region. Because of the variety of the causes of clinical findings, the diagnosis is difficult to be established. In general, according to most of the world guidelines for the treatment, the drug of choice is topical corticosteroid with a lower intensity of the therapeutic effect. Frequent and long-term treatment with corticosteroids has many adverse effects. After successful management of the acute phase, the treatment should be substituted by soothing emollients to improve and restore a skin barrier function. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of lipophilic eye cream ALLERGIKA®-eyelid cream containing four effective substances (10 % glycerine, allantoin, bisabolol and vitamin E), active substances with clinically proven efficacy in inflammatory manifestations of skin and hydrating and skin barrier protection effect.. Material and methods: The study was conducted at the Clinic of Dermatovenerology of University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine Comenius University in Bratislava and dermatological ambulance BELLAMED Ltd. in Brezno. Twenty-six patients were followed-up, 4 of them withdrew during the follow-up. Out of 22 patients followed, 4 (18%) were males and 18 (82%) females. Erythema, skin dryness, and desquamation in the regions of upper and lower eyelids were evaluated. After taking the patient ‘s history and clinical examination, local treatment with ALLERGIKA®-eyelid cream was prescribed for the period of 3 weeks. During the treatment, the patients were thoroughly monitored. The state of the disease was evaluated according to the score systems the Patient Global Assessment (PGA) and Investigator Global Assessment (IGA), and on the basis of clinical findings and photo-documentation. Results: The total score of both scoring systems PGA and IGA during the whole period showed a remarkable decrease in the values, which suggested the improvement of the patient‘s state. Based on the photo-documentation and scoring systems, we assessed significant resolution of clinical symptoms in most of the patients. Conclusion: Topical lipophilic emollient ALLERGIKA®-eyelid cream seems to be efficacious and helpful in the treatment of periorbital dermatitis which is manifested by erythema, skin dryness, and desquamation, and is also suitable for long-term and prophylactic treatment.
