Postherpetic neuralgia

Postherpetic neuralgia is a neuropathic syndrome with a diverse clinical picture. It is characterized by persistent pain after overcoming shingles when it´s skin manifestations have long since disappeared. Postherpetic neuralgia is an example of neuropathic pain - with variously expressed neuropathic symptoms. However, a patient with PHN does not only fight pain - the disease severely reduces his quality of life, devastating his personal and professional life. The first step in treatment - is prevention. If it develops despite PHN prevention, it´s treatment is based on a combination of multiple preparations from different pharmacological groups respecting the pathophysiology of the pain of this devastating disease
